Arsenal is ready to offer Reiss Nelson and Ainsley Maitland-Niles as makeweights in a potential deal to land Leicester City’s James Maddison, according to the Daily Mail.
The Gunners confirmed the £17 million arrival of Anderlecht midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga on Monday.
But Mikel Arteta wants to further strengthen his options in this area of the pitch this summer.
Martin Odegaard and Dani Ceballos have both returned to Real Madrid following the end of their loan spells, while Granit Xhaka and Lucas Torreira also look set to leave the Emirates this month.
Maddison is understood to be high up on Arteta’s shortlist of targets, but Leicester’s steep asking price has proved to be a stumbling block for Arsenal, with £50 million unlikely to be enough to reach an agreement as it stands.
However, Arsenal would be willing to throw in squad players to sweeten the deal, with academy products Nelson and Maitland-Niles both available.
