Ballon D’Or: I hope to win award like Ronaldo, Zidane – Benzema
Real Madrid striker, Karim Benzema, has expressed his hope of winning the Ballon D’Or like his idols Ronaldo de Lima and Zinedine Zidane.
Benzema has made the 30-man shortlist for the 2021 Ballon D’Or following his fine form.
The 33-year-old finished as the second top scorer in LaLiga last season and currently leads the Spanish top-flight’s goals and assist charts.
The France international has now said winning the prize would see him fulfil a childhood dream.
Benzema told Canal+: “Win the Ballon d’Or? Yes, that would be one of the many dreams I have had since childhood. Of course I dreamed of it as a kid.
“My idols, whether it’s R9 [Ronaldo] or Zizou [Zidane], they came to Real Madrid and won the Ballon d’Or. And that’s one of the little things I think about. Today, I’m not far from it.”
