Nigeria coach, Gernot Rohr has named Victor Osimhen, Joe Aribo, Samuel Chukwueze, Samuel Kalu and Henry Onyekuru as the five players the Super Eagles missed following their 0-0 draw against Cameroon in an international friendly game on Tuesday in Austria.
Rohr believes Nigeria would have got a different result against Cameroon if Osimhen, Aribo, Chukwueze, Kalu and Onyekuru featured for the Super Eagles.
“Like I said before, the result [Cameroon 0, Nigeria 0] is not the most important, what is important is to test some players and see new faces, which was the case again today,“ Rohr told Super Eagles media.
“We didn’t want to concede a goal we wanted to score, but we could not and when we are missing players like Osimhen, Aribo, Chukwueze, Kalu, Henry, it’s not easy.“
He added, “But they (players) did well, we had a lot of chances in these two games we couldn’t score, but the match today was interesting. It was the last match of the season for a lot of the players, they came in the middle of the holidays to work hard for ten days with us and the fruits of the work will come, and I think we will be ready in September for the World Cup qualifiers against Liberia and Cape Verde.“
Nigeria will play Mexico next in another international friendly on July 4.
