EPL: Danny Murphy reveals why Man Utd is struggling, advises Solskjaer to imitate Tuchel
Former Liverpool player, Danny Murphy, has revealed that Manchester United are currently struggling because their manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, is trying to play Cristiano Ronaldo, Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes in one team.
Murphy also advised Solskjaer to imitate Chelsea boss, Thomas Tuchel, adding that German doesn’t care which player he upsets in his squad.
Solskjaer is under intense pressure at Old Trafford after Man United suffered a 4-2 defeat to Leicester City in a Premier League tie at the weekend.
Solskjaer’s side currently sits in the sixth position on the Premier League table with five points behind leaders Chelsea after losing to Leicester.
“I said this a year ago – Pogba and Fernandes in the same team doesn’t work unless you have got eight others who are workaholics,” Murphy told talkSPORT.
“You throw Ronaldo in the mix, in effect, you’re carrying three, aren’t you.
“It’s fine to carry three attacking players if the rest of them know what they are doing behind them.”
He added: “What’s the answer? Work, and repercussions of performance. If you don’t have the repercussions of performance, you won’t get the work in.
“If you look at Tuchel over the last three weeks, he’s not just not changed personnel and gone: ‘You fix it’.
“He’s actually gone to a five in midfield, with three central midfielders who are all defensive and the two wing-backs, and then played two strikers – he’s only got two attacking players on the pitch.
“And look at his bench, he doesn’t care who he upsets!”
