EPL: It’s difficult to start with defeat – Sterling City players for 1-0 loss to Tottenham
Manchester City forward, Raheem Sterling has blamed his team for their loss to Tottenham in the Premier League on Sunday.
Giving his assessment on City’s defeat, the England forward said they lost the game because they failed to control Tottenham a bit better.
Sterling said his side could have probably controlled the game a bit better but allowed Tottenham counter them, but promised that Pep Guardiola’s side will bounce back.
He told Sky Sports: “We probably could have controlled it a bit better, we let them counter a bit, which was exactly what they wanted to do. They’ve done the most important thing in football and put the ball in the back of net. And we couldn’t do that.
“It’s a difficult one to take but it’s a long season. We were on the front foot, they kept fetting small counters. We should have controlled them a bit better. We’ll bounce back.
“I’ve played with [Grealish] a few times, it’s a good one [partnership]. It’s still early days and we’ll learn each other’s game over the season and hopefully, we can play a lot more together.
“It’s always difficult to start with a defeat. It’s a long road, we’ll keep focussed and try to bounce back.”
