EPL: Solskjaer issues strong warning to Man United stars ahead of Leeds clash
Manchester United boss, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, has issued a strong warning to his players ahead of their English Premier League opener against Leeds United on August 14.
Some players who represented their countries at the Euro 2020 and Copa America are expected to return to the team on Monday.
Harry Maguire, Marcus Rashford, Luke Shaw and Jadon Sancho played for England during the Euro 2020, while Paul Pogba played for France and Fred represented Brazil at the Copa America.
But Solskjaer has now sent out a warning to his players that they cannot expect to start the season opener against Leeds if their fitness is not up to requirements.
“With the boys who have not come back yet, I have not got a Scooby-Doo how they are fitness wise,” Solskjaer said as quoted by Daily Star.
“Everyone’s due in on Monday, they have got two weeks until the first game and that means it’s three weeks since their last game — Fred at the Copa America and the English finalists.
“So we will see how they are, what fitness levels they are at, because it’s also down to what they have done during the holidays.
“I can’t just throw them in if they are not fit enough.”
