EPL: Tuchel calls Lukaku ‘democratic leader’ after Chelsea defeated Arsenal
Chelsea boss, Thomas Tuchel, has branded striker, Romelu Lukaku, as a ‘democratic leader’, following his impressive display in the Blues’ Premier League 2-0 win against Arsenal on Sunday evening.
Tuchel said the Belgium international likes to talk to everybody.
Lukaku scored on his second Chelsea debut as Tuchel’s side defeated Arsenal at Emirates Stadium.
Reece James also scored for the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Super Cup winners.
EPL: Why I returned to Chelsea – Lukaku
“I’m very happy with the way he [Romelu Lukaku] has integrated already,” Tuchel was quoted by Chelsea’s website as saying after the game.
“He’s a very smart guy, he likes to be in the group and he’s a very democratic leader, so he talks to everybody.
“He is very friendly, humble and competitive, so he gives something to our game that we did not have so much to protect balls and play very direct upfront into the last line.
“He cannot start better than with a goal. He almost scored a second one but for a big safe from Bernd Leno and he assisted some half-chances and chances as well, so it’s a good start. Now we have to improve from here.”
Lukaku will now hope to continue his impressive performance for Chelsea when they take on Liverpool next on August 29 at Anfield.
