EPL: Varane’s possible shirt number at Man Utd revealed
Real Madrid defender, Raphael Varane, could take his dream shirt number at Manchester United, according to Daily Mail.
Varane is on the brink of signing for the Old Trafford outfit, after they agreed a fee with Real.
The 28-year-old will line up alongside Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw and Aaron-Wan Bissaka in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s back line.
An acquisition of Varane’s stature will no doubt see shirt sales soar.
Transfer: Raphael Varane’s preferred move revealed
Varane has worn 19, 2 and 5 for Los Blancos because Sergio Ramos always had the no 4 shirt.
However, he sports 4 for France and wore it during their 2018 World Cup triumph.
That number is currently taken by Phil Jones in the United squad.
Jones has been with the Red Devils for 10 years, but failed to play in a single Premier League fixture last season.
The club are willing to let the 29-year-old leave due to his frequent injury issues and as a result, United have the chance to hand Varane the No.4 shirt he would seemingly want.
