Manchester United have confirmed that their defender, Axel Tuanzebe, will leave Old Trafford to join Premier League rivals, Aston Villa on a season-long loan.
Man United disclosed this in a statement via their website on Sunday ahead of their Premier League opener against Leeds United on August 14.
The statement read, “Axel Tuanzebe will spend the 2021/22 campaign on loan at Aston Villa after agreeing to a season-long move to the Premier League club.
“It is a return to Villa Park for Tuanzebe, who had already enjoyed two spells with the Midlands club, including in 2018/19 when he helped them achieve Championship play-off glory.”
Tuanzebe also signed a new contract at Manchester United, lasting until June 2023, with the option of an additional year’s extension.
He endured a difficult campaign last season due to injuries.
The 23-year-old made his senior debut in 2017, the same year in which he was named Denzil Haroun Reserve Team Player of the Year.
