Jose Mourinho turned down the Real Madrid manager job days before Carlo Ancelotti was confirmed as the new boss, according to the UK Telegraph.
The Spanish giants were looking for Zinedine Zidane’s replacement after the Frenchman left the club for the second time.
Real president, Florentino Perez, confirmed Ancelotti as the new manager a day after Zidane’s exit.
However, it is understood that Mourinho was approached two times about potentially returning to the Santiago Bernabeu.
It is claimed after informal talks last week, the Portuguese was again spoken to over the weekend.
Mourinho made it clear he had no desire to take up their offer, having only recently taken up the post at AS Roma.
The 58-year-old is hoping to rebuild his reputation in Serie A, after his spell at Tottenham turned sour in the 2020/2021 campaign.
