New York’s COVID-19 positivity rate remained below 1 percent for the third straight day as more than 18 million vaccine doses have been administered, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Saturday.
The daily positivity rate on Friday was 0.80 percent, the lowest since Sept. 4, Cuomo said. It was 0.95 percent statewide when measured on a seven-day average and 0.75 percent in New York City Friday.
The number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 dropped to 1,361 Friday. Twenty-four people died of the virus including 10 New York City residents.
Cuomo said 52 percent of all New Yorkers had received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine as of Saturday morning and 44 percent were finished with the regimen.
Te state has issued more than 1 million Excelsior Passes, which can be used to show proof of vaccination or a negative coronavirus test, the governor said.
There had been more than an 80 percent increase in downloads of the Excelsior Pass app in the last week alone, Cuomo added.
Major sports venues and arenas including Madison Square, Yankee Stadium, Nassau Coliseum and Citi Field are using the passes to check vaccination status.
The pass is available 15 days after receiving the final dose of the vaccine.
