MEMORISE: A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity. Proverbs 17:17
READ: James 4:11
11 Speak not evil one of another, brethren. He that speaketh evil of his brother, and judgeth his brother, speaketh evil of the law, and judgeth the law: but if thou judge the law, thou art not a doer of the law, but a judge.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Proverbs 19-20, 2 Corinthians 3:1-18
MESSAGE:
Being alone is the root cause of depression today. I perceive that if those contemplating suicide had people around to encourage and speak reassuring words to them, they would debunk the thoughts. How often do you speak encouraging words to other teenagers? Do you say words that debase people or speak loosely irrespective of others feelings? Note that the words you speak are powerful, they can either make one happy or sad. Be that friend that everyone runs to for advice, succour and encouragement. Never speak ill of your friends or anybody. Support your friends dreams and visions so long as they are not against God’s word. Learn from Jonathan and David, Jonathan loved David even against his father’s ungodly will. When Saul wanted to kill David, Jonathan saved his friend because he knew his father’s actions were wrong.
In addition, when you have good friends, don’t sow discord amongst them; never give room for gossip and rumor. Speak the truth in love to one another. Be everyone’s bestie.
ACTION POINT:
Be the best friend to everyone.
HYMNS: I’ve Found A Friend In Jesus
- I’ve found a friend in Jesus,
He’s everything to me,
He’s the fairest of ten thousand to
my soul;
The Lily of the Valley, in Him
alone I see
All I need to cleanse and make
me fully whole.
In sorrow He’s my comfort, in
trouble He’s my stay;
He tells me every care on
Him to roll.
He’s the Lily of the Valley, the
Bright and Morning Star,
He’s the fairest of ten thousand
to my soul. - He all my griefs has taken,
and all my sorrows borne;
In temptation He’s my strong
and mighty tow’r;
I’ve all for Him forsaken,
and all my idols torn
From my heart and now
He keeps me by His pow’r.
Though all the world
forsake me,
and Satan tempt me sore,
Through Jesus I shall safely
reach the goal. - He’ll never, never leave me,
nor yet forsake me here,
While I live by faith
and do His blessed will;
A wall of fire about me,
I’ve nothing now to fear,
From His manna He my
hungry soul shall fill.
Then sweeping up to glory to
see His blessed face,
Where rivers of delight
shall ever roll.
