TOPIC: Living By Example [Open Heaven for Teens 14 November 2021]
MEMORISE: Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted. 1 Corinthians 10:6
READ: 1 Corinthians 10:6-11
- Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.
- Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.
- Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand.
- Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents.
- Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer.
- Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Ezekiel 7-9, Hebrews 10:24-39
MESSAGE:
The reason social vices are on the increase in the world today is that there are so few good leaders for teenagers and youth to emulate. When my children were younger, I knew that if they must be mentored right, I must conduct myself as a good father both indeed and in words. These days, if you ask ten teenagers who their role model/mentor is, you would be alarmed that maybe just two would mention their parents. This is because the parents’ lifestyles are not worthy of emulation. However, God expects you as His child to set a new pace for good leadership.
Note that bad leaders were once bad followers; bad parents were once bad children. So, bring a change in the order of things; check your habits, character and weaknesses. Lay them at the altar of God in prayers; ask Him to prune you so that you can begin to bear good fruits worthy of emulation.
PRAYER POINT:
Lord, please help me to follow You closely as You mould me into becoming a good leader.
HYMN: Let Others See Jesus In You
- While passing through this world of sin,
And others your life shall view,
Be clean and pure without, within,
Let others see Jesus in you.
CHORUS
Let others see Jesus in you,
Let others see Jesus in you;
Keep telling the story, be faithful and true,
Let others see Jesus in you.
- Your life’s a book before their eyes,
They’re reading it through and through;
Say, does it point them to the skies,
Do others see Jesus in you? - What joy ’twill be at set of sun,
In mansions beyond the blue,
To find some souls that you have won;
Let others see Jesus in you. - Then live for Christ both day and night,
Be faithful, be brave, and true,
And lead the lost to life and light;
Let others see Jesus in you.
