MEMORISE: That the LORD called Samuel: and he answered, Here am I. 1 Samuel 3:4
READ: 1 Samuel 3:1-4
- And the child Samuel ministered unto the LORD before Eli. And the word of the LORD was precious in those days; there was no open vision.
- And it came to pass at that time, when Eli was laid down in his place, and his eyes began to wax dim, that he could not see;
- And ere the lamp of God went out in the temple of the LORD, where the ark of God was, and Samuel was laid down to sleep;
- That the LORD called Samuel: and he answered, Here am I.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Proverbs 3-4, 1 Corinthians 13:1-13
MESSAGE:
Age has nothing to do with who God decides to speak to or call. I was a young believer when God said I would become the General Overseer. There were older people in the church at that time but I don’t know what He saw that made Him choose me. This is one of the questions I will likely ask when I get to heaven.
David was the youngest in his father’s house but became the most prominent giant killer and then, king. Methuselah on the other hand was the oldest man that ever lived and all that was recorded about him in the Bible was that he lived, had sons and daughters and died. May your life have meaningful impact in Jesus name.
Samuel was less than 10 years old but became privy to information that Eli didn’t have. God can bypass any adult to speak to you; the same way your dad is a child of God, so are you. God has no grandchildren but you have to position yourself to hear from Him. Thirst after Him and do His will. When He speaks to you, be swift to do His bidding.
KEY POINT:
The more you thirst to know God, the more information He shares with you.
HYMN: I Am Thine O Lord
- I am Thine, O Lord,
I have heard Thy voice,
And it told Thy love to me;
But I long to rise
in the arms of faith
And be closer drawn to Thee.
Chorus
Draw me nearer,
nearer blessed Lord,
To the cross where Thou hast died;
Draw me nearer, nearer,
nearer blessed Lord,
To Thy precious, bleeding side.
- Consecrate me now to Thy
service, Lord,
By the pow’r of grace divine;
Let my soul look up with a
steadfast hope,
And my will be lost in Thine. - Oh, the pure delight
of a single hour
That before Thy throne I spend,
When I kneel in prayer,
and with Thee, my God
I commune as friend
with friend! - There are depths of love that I
cannot know
Till I cross the narrow sea;
There are heights of joy
that I may not reach
Till I rest in peace with Thee.
