Serie A: Pedro dumps Roma for Lazio following criticism of Mourinho
Former Chelsea, winger Pedro, has dumped AS Roma, signing for city rivals, Lazio over the presence of former boss, Jose Mourinho at the club.
The Spanish winger has also become the first player to move between the two fierce rivals in 40 years.
The last player to make a such move was Carlo Perrone, and he was moved from Lazio for Roma forty years ago.
Pedro played 27 games for Roma last season, scoring five goals and talkSPORT reports that the 34-year-old’s move may not be unconnected to comments he made about his former boss Mourinho while both men were in Chelsea.
Mourinho joined Roma in the summer after he was sacked by Tottenham earlier in 2021.
Pedro and Mourinho worked together at at Stamford Bridge in 2015, after the Portuguese gaffer signed him from Barcelona.
However, Mourinho was dismissed four months into the season after losing nine of the Blues’ first 16 games.
And Pedro was not too complimentary about his former boss, which could have led to his Roma exit.
“It was about everything, everything just wasn’t right,” he said at the time.
“We were very low in the league, the spirits were very low, the trust was very low, everything was going wrong.
“It made it very difficult to be fit, to be in a good position. It was just the whole thing – it wasn’t right.”
