TOPIC: Obedience To Faith (TREM Devotional 2 June 2021)
‘’…And a great company of the Priests were obedient to the faith.’’ Acts 6:7b
Under the Old Covenant, you could not be blessed unless you kept the law to its minutest detail; but in the New Covenant, it is not so. Our obedience is what is known as the obedience of faith. This simply means that Christ through His death, burial and resurrection has obeyed on your behalf. It is His own obedience that counts on your behalf. It is His own obedience that God looks at.
Child of God, there is really nothing you can do to receive from God. Your obedience is not really the reason He gives you anything; rather, He relates with you on the basis of what Christ did. You are to line up with Christ did, looking unto Him as the Author and Finisher of your faith. Understand that, as a believer, you are never in disobedience in the sight of God because He sees you in Christ. You will keep struggling until you first of all accept that you are righteous. Until then, things will not line up.
The problem we have today is that we want to earn our place with God and so we want to be seen as doing something. When you know that grace is unearned and unmerited, you will not have problem with your Christian experience. Listen to what Apostle Paul said in Galatians 2:20. He said: ‘’I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave Himself for me.’’ The key here is that the Christian life is lived by faith in the finished work of Christ. If God is pleased with Christ, then He is pleased with you too. If Christ obeyed, then you have obeyed as well.
When you begin to live by the faith of Him who loved you, then you can walk away liberated and lay claim to all the promises of God without fear or intimidation.
