TOPIC: Hold On Tenaciously To God’s Promises (TREM Devotional 27 August 2021)
“For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.” – 2 Corinthians 1:20 KJV
The word ‘Amen’ means ‘so be it.’ That means that all the promises of God to you will certainly come to pass. That is what the scripture means when it says that “…the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen…” So, all you ever need to know, if you will prevail in life is that you have a right standing with God, not because you did anything right; it is because of what God has perfected.
The whole force of heaven is being deployed to bring God’s promises to pass in your life. It is not enough for you to say it with your mouth, you must also believe it. It is a done deal already. Your own part is to say ‘amen,’ to agree with what God has already said. My God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory by Christ. It depends on what you say concerning what God has promised.
Nothing dies when Jesus is around. You will notice that even Jesus did not die until He closed His mouth when He said “it is finished.” Then He bowed His head and gave up the ghost. Naturally, people die and then bow their head, but Jesus first bowed His head before he gave up the ghost.
That is why Paul tells us: “Let your conversation be without covetousness because he has said he will never leave you nor forsake you so that you can boldly say the Lord is my helper, I shall not fear what man shall do to me” (Hebrews 13 :5-6 KJV). Nothing happens to you unless you permit it as long as you are in right standing. I can boldly say that I won’t be afraid because God has said it. And I did not do anything for Him to say it. So why should I doubt and why should I be afraid to repeat what He said?
