“Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.” Luke 8:11 (KJV)
In the parable of the Sower, Jesus taught that the seed was God’s word. Yes, the word of God carries, the power to produce but for it to produce, it has to be planted in our hearts and allowed to germinate; then and only then will it release God’s power.
Yes, the seed is the word of God, but the word on its own will not produce until it is planted on the right soil. That’s what the writer of Hebrews meant when he declared in Heb. 4:2 that the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.
This brings me to the parable of the sower when Jesus spoke about the four types of grounds on which the seed fell. This parable refers to the condition of the people’s hearts. The word is always the same. It is the same word that goes out to multiplied thousands, with different results based on the condition of each person’s heart. The only variable in this parable is the condition of the heart and not the word of God. The word will always produce once planted in a good heart.
Look at the story of Jesus when He was going to Jairus’ house, hundreds thronged Him and many touched Him, but a singular touch was different. The woman with the issue of blood touched Him with a purpose. While others were touching to feel his humanity, she touched Him to connect with His divinity and she received her healing.
In the parable of the sower, we can see clearly that it was the word that produced the fruit. The ground simply gave it a good place to grow. If you simply put God’s word in your heart, protect it and give it a priority in your life, the word will produce fruit of itself. Don’t let the devil deceive you into believing that you can’t produce fruits. It is the word of God in you that produces joy and success in our lives.
Your part is to meditate on God’s word and live according to the word sown in your heart. God will ensure it produces.
